Our Story

The officers of ZOINIA were so moved by the refugee crisis during their time volunteering in the camps
in Greece that ZOINIA was formed to better assist the refugees. We saw grandparents in wheelchairs
lovingly carried off the boats on the shores of Lesvos. We wrapped tiny babies in emergency blankets to
warm them. We made children smile. We taught English, translated, and handed out food. But we also
noticed that the dozens of volunteer groups and the thousands of volunteers needed help to be more
efficient and effective and there were gaps to be filled. We noticed that women and children were
particularly vulnerable. ZOINIA filed for 501(c)3 status in 2017.
Our mission is to help small non-profits better serve their communities and implement ZOINIA’srefugee programs.
Our target groups are the refugees and small grass-roots non-profits assisting in the crisis. Our master
plan is to build a network cluster of connected dedicated servers across the globe to support non-profit
organizations with the IT services, support, and training for inter-group connectivity and coordination,
including voice and video communication capabilities with a centralized API to reduce redundant
duplication of efforts, increased visibility, task specific software, task automation, shareable database,
and improved wireless communication. The ZOINIA refugee alliance program will implement the master
plan and address some of the pressing needs of refugees for immediate impact on this critical situation.
